There are so many factors to consider when living a wellness lifestyle. Water should be simple, right? You just fill your water bottle and off you go. Unfortunately that's not the case. For many reasons, filtered water is a must!
I've always been a big water drinker, and have never really been interested in drinking much else. However when I heard the news that all Queensland water would now contain fluoride, in an effort 'to help children have stronger teeth', something didn't sit well with me. For starters we should be able to choose whether we want a chemical added to our water! And secondly, governments shouldn't be able to feed people chemicals through their water supply!
Would the money not have been better spent on educating children and parents on healthy eating? Removing sugars, and sweets from their diets is sure to help their teeth!
Did you know that sodium fluoride (that's what they're putting into our water) is actually used as an insecticide, herbicide, rodenticide, and fungicide? It's also linked to loads of health issues like Cancer, Altziemers, SIDS, Chronic Fatigue and Thyroid disfunction, just to name a few. To add to this, the body recognises fluoride as oestrogen, increasing oestrogen levels. High oestrogen or oestrogen dominance contribute to things like, fertility issues, breast and ovarian cancer, period pain, man boobs, skin problems, weight gain plus so much more.
To add to this, there is evidence to show that our water supply contains traces of the contraceptive pill, and antibiotics. And us healthy housewives and our loved ones, are consuming litres of it per day!
I don't want to scare you, but it is serious. In the future Michael and I will install a Grander water filtration system into our home. Grander is said to be the cleanest water in the world! I was lucky enough to study in a college that was fitted with Grander throughout, and let me tell you, you can tell the difference! Not only the taste and texture, but how it makes your skin feel.
In the mean time we use a Bobble filter bottle that everything we consume passes through first.
As far as I understand, the only way to fully remove any traces of fluoride, the pill and antibiotics is to use a reverse osmosis system. I encourage you to do some research in your local area, and go with your gut. What feels like the best option for you right now?
I'd love you to weigh in on this topic! How do you feel about fluoride being added to our water, and what do you do in your home to ensure your water is as clean as you can make it? If you have any location specific information, please share it below! You might help someone in your area.
