Macadamia Milk - An Update

For the past few months I have been seeking out a dairy alternative for my husband. Like me, he doesn't have much of a call for milk products in his diet, but where he does, cows milk has been his go-to choice. If you caught my recipe for almond milk here, you would have read that I was trialling macadamia milk. I used the same recipe as almond milk, but just swapped the nut variety. And the verdict? It's a winner! Michael loves the flavour, namely the creaminess which is similar to cows milk, this makes it a perfect alternative in coffee. It's also great on cereal, in porridge and recipes. It's a light flavour, much lighter than cows milk which makes it easier to drink, and of course it's much more gentle on the tummy, and best of all, it's full of goodness. I have the ability to use organic nuts, purified water and add no preservatives or chemicals. Just the way I like it!

It is worth noting that you have to make this yourself. I am yet to find anyone who makes it organic in a tetra style pack to have for back up. It also means that you need to make your coffee at home rather than purchasing a coffee on the go. At the end of the day, I believe food shouldn't be about convenience, it should be about nourishment and fuel. Convenience is something we have adopted into our food practices, and yes I believe it's important, but it's also important to find the joy in food preparation and make that a part of your daily routine.
