Cooking used to be about passion and intuition. Working with what you have, coming up with creative ideas and cooking for amazing taste. Now it's all about convenience. The practice of fuelling our bodies is arguably the most important thing we do in our day, however we don't seem to put very much energy into it.
When was the last time you went into the kitchen, without time restraints, and cooked a beautifully nutritious meal. When was the last time you lost yourself in the produce, the flavours and the creativity of cooking? I love finding a new recipe or being inspired to try something different, shopping for the ingredients and bringing everything together to create something filled with love for my husband and I to eat. It doesn't always work out as I imagine, but hey isn't that what life is about!
I didn't used to feel like this though, and it has taken a lot of retraining to get me to this point. I believe finding a passion for cooking is about both confidence and love. When you start to see the benefits in your overall wellness from cooking beautiful organic, healthy produce, it's hard to give your body anything else. Loving yourself enough to provide it with beautiful food is imperative to long lasting happiness. If you're inexperienced in the kitchen and lack confidence (like I used to) the only way to move past that is to GET IN THERE! Just give it a go! Quite often you'll be surprised. If it doesn't work out, don't beat yourself up, have a laugh and learn for next time. The greatest chef's make mistakes, and as Richard Branson says ...
'The Brave may not live forever; But the cautious don't live at all'
This week I challenge you to make one passion filled dinner. Just start with one dinner, and the rest will come. You might like to find a recipe you love online, or adapt a recipe you already have, to make it more nutritious. Turn off the television and set the evening aside. You might like to play some music and really immerse yourself in the fun of the moment.
I would love you to share your passion filled cooking experience in the comments section below. You might inspire others to try something new!
