Responsible for encouraging change in thousands of people worldwide to live a healthy lifestyle, and allow food to be their medicine, this doco is a must see for anyone interested in wellness or changing their lifestyle. If you want to learn just how much of a role food plays in our wellbeing, this is for you!
The story of how this documentary came about is all too familiar for most of us. To see someone you love go through health issues, and disregard food as a way of healing can be really hard, but James and Laurentine took it one step further.

Food Matters started with an illness in my own family. My father Roy was diagnosed with severe Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Depression and Anxiety and spent 5 years bedridden on 6 different medications entrusting his health to the medical profession. Unfortunately, the conventional approaches left him feeling even worse than before; inching ever closer to despair. We tried our best to convince him with books and articles to step out of the conventional box and really start to consider his options but everything we tried failed.
We decided that a film would be the ideal medium to bring the world's leading health and nutrition experts into his own living room and explain once and for all that 'food is better medicine that drugs'! Thankfully it worked and within 3 months of us showing him the footage used to create the film he was off all his meds, 50 lbs lighter and has been in impeccable health ever since. That was 2007!
This documentary was created to show a 'non-believer' just how important food is for living well, which makes it a great tool to introduce our friends and family to the concept of food as medicine as well.
