A few weeks ago I sent an email that went a little crazy. I spoke about how I’m currently journeying through recognising just how much my life was infused with the beliefs of others, and I was beginning to come back to me, maybe even for the first time.

The response I received showed me that I’m not the only one who has been experiencing this type of re-aligning. Which is in some way nice to know, collectively we can work through this together!

For so many women, we grow up wanting to make the people who love us proud, as if as children we decided that when someone we love is proud of us, that equals love.

We decide that, we need to earn love.

Almost 10 years ago, I was diagnosed with Celiac disease, an autoimmune condition which means I’m allergic to gluten. If I eat anything with gluten in it, I know almost immediately, and it takes me over a week to recover from the tiniest bit.  

And you know, it’s been fine. It was a relatively easy transition, and I’ve never really missed anything that contains gluten all that much – nor have I EVER intentionally eaten gluten since the day I was diagnosed. Purely because I respect my body too much for it to be put through the process of trying to rebuild.

But what I begun to notice is that every time someone offered me something that contained gluten at a party or event, I would always say ‘oh no, I can’t eat that’.

Seemingly harmless right?

On Friday night just gone I hosted Autumn Intentions. This was the fist time I had held a workshop in the evening, and I kinda loved it. It was intimate, deep and a little bit shadowy - which I totally honour. 

The vibe of the room was a beautiful mix of deep diving, and light and bright. The perfect combination. All of the women who attended were there with their hearts on their sleeve, ready to be opened, and released, and to be realigned with their intentions.

This conversation plays out in one way or another, with almost all of my one-on-one clients, we think we know what we want, and so we set out on a path to achieve it. But we miss a vital step.
